MORE ADDY'S COOKING SKILLS etc

The Gourmet Shrimp and Grits Story
One day (Spring of 04) I went to this ritzy 'chi-chi-frou-frou' fashion event in Raleigh that was hosting Vogue magazine editor and Durham NC native Andre Leon Talley. I got my coworker and I on the list (I know I know just an abuse of media power) and since the 'icon' at my old station was Andre's neighbor we were sure to get more than just meet and greet face time but a chit-chat good ol yapper away like we go way back and get personal fashion advise from the guru moment with him by just name dropping. NO shame in the game ya'll. By the way saw The Devil Wears Prada (DWP) yesterday. Fabulous movie for all you fashion connoisseurs. Definitely one for the library. Wish they'ld make more like that for 'our species'. I digress.

Anyways at the event they served some gourmet 'Shrimp and Grits with gravy'. At first I was like 'hmh.. what the hell is this and will this fill my stomach'. The only compensation for me was that I was getting this free whereas some of the other women in the room had paid like between $80-$100 for their seat. Anyways I decided to try the strange delicacy. Fortunately for me the shrimp was not mixed in to the gravy but was rather used as decoration around the plate. As you very well know I am allergic to shrimp so I picked them all off my plate and the lady next to me was delighted to have them. The grits was like a patty and it looked quite 'interesting'. I had the first spoon and 'OMG ' it was 'TDF'(to die for). I examined the food well and was like I can make this at home. So your truly decided to give it a try but sustituted the shrimp with 'Vienna Sausage'. The picture below is what I ended up with. Again not quite like the original but IT TASTED AND SMELLED GOOD TO ME.

Singto and Des were observing me cooking, asking questions and also being entertained by my attempt. I even invited them to come and join me in my gourmet candle light dinner but they refused so I invited 'Mr. Bunny' instead. And as you can see from the smile on his face he concurs with me that the food tasted really good and was appreciative of the effort I put into the dinner. Thanks 'Mr. Bunny' I knew I could count on yah.

Anyways here's a picture I just got today from Ms. Uduak Oduak. It's Addy and our girl Genny at the Nollywood Convention. Shout out to Imo State o...daz were Nigeria's finest 'chi-chis' are manufactured...he he he. Dunno where she got that her weave-on but it was looking very very nice not crazy like my barbie doll plastic hair. Lol. May be when me too I get a Lux or is it Pro-Activ contract I can afford $500 weaveAnd I can just be a bush idiot sometimes sha and really need to go take a class on how to use new technology when I get it. As I was loading up some pictures, I saw some random files that did not make sense to me. Unfortunately I deleted some of them only to later find out when I checked the final one(duh...the Cali sun is frying my brains these days) that those files were video that I had recorded with my camera from Deji and Rotola's wedding (na wa o.. 1 month after and we are still talking about this wedding... another Addy award for Most Blogged About Wedding) . I remember recording some of the silly throw back dancing in the circle but i deleted them from the camera...urgh. Luckily the last surviving video is of their first dance (i think). Yeah it really gets an 'AAAAAWWWWWW'. Enjoy

Lastly here are some mooooore of Addy's random pictures (i know I am drowning ya'll with my pictures, but I love taking pictures). Nothing exciting however. Anyways I went to the beach today, supposedly to go 'SURF'. Actually that was all Chini's thing, but it sounded more fun telling people who called me that I was going surfing. Lol. I just ended up sleeping on the beach, getting a tan and getting sand in my hair and in my camera.

  1. The files will still be in your recycle bin if you haven't emptied it yet.

    Cool Video!

  2. I actually deleted them from the camera before uploading. I didn't realize it cos it was fuzzy and didn't think to look first. This last one I missed and that's why it was uploaded with the stills. Bummer... unless you mean there is a recycle bin in the memory card or in the camera...hmh.. i will check but I doubt it because that camera pops up the 'are you sure' twice before deleting.

Imo babes are the best in Nigeria, and I agree with Aba boy Mba5 gals are really classy o! This is said excluding the fact that two of Nollywood's hottest babes, Rita Dominic and Genny Nnaji are from there.
