NIGERIA VOTES 2007 PART 1: WHO WILL WEAR THE CROWN

THE GOVERNORSHIP RACE

Part one of the much awaited election in Nigeria is finaly here. The Feds on Wednesday declared Thursday and Friday a public holiday, literarily at the very last minute. Many people including myself were rather ticked by this because we didn't get the opportunity to rush to the banks to load up for the long and ominously questionalble weekend. Yes, people are scared about what's going to go down. It has already started as some people were talking about an incident in the Ikorodu road area. Anyways Saturday is D-day number one. You guys can be a part of the fun by just logging on to www.jumptv.com to watch the coverage on Silverbird TV. It'll start at 8am Nigerian time with Me and Jacob Akinyemi Johnson (J.A.J). I am not looking forward to it because I am totally clueless about Nigerian POLITRICKS and don't want to be a part of it because you can say something now and the next thing you know is the S.S.S looking for your head to chop off. So for anyone who will be watching, if I sound a bit to bubbly please don't be upset because my strategy is to do the 'RAH!RAH! DO YOUR CIVIC DUTY AND GO VOTE' thing and go look for some election misbehaviour afterwards.

Well while we are on the topic. The race in Lagos state is one to watch. The candidates Babatunde Fashola, Musiliu Obanikoro, Femi Pedro, Jimi Agbaje and Uche Ibukun-Ohimai are creating...shall we say PURE WATER CONVERSATIONS since we don't have WATER COOLERS here. If you are following the race, who would you like to be the winnner for Lagos state. Is there any other state that you are watching. I was interested in Imo State because my old school mate's dad was running but with a recent court ruling ol'boy is out of the race. Let me know what you think and don't forget the questions I asked from your in the post below. I am at Cool Cafe looking for 'B-S-ING' points to use on Saturday. ARRRGGGGHHHH!!!! I am so not looking forward to waking up at freaking 5am and I tried to get out of it but no luck. Pray for me that time should fly. Lol.

    Goodluck with the politricks coverage on saturday. I envy you NOT.

    My choice for lagos state Gov. is Agbaje or Pedro. The other's lack every sense of depth.

    @teatylawla
    It seems you are biased. its ok. Fashola may be a SAN but the man has been very dissapointing in all his debates and interviews, except for the scripted Ads.

    Politricks ...hehehe.. that's funny!

    I work with an international organization based in DC that is closely observing the elections, and has election observers in Nigeria right now.
    Ironically, unlike most who are trying to flee the upcoming elections, I am pissed that I am not in Nigeria right now. My thesis defense is just around the corner, and school is important!

    I believe in Nigeria and the potential of the country, and I applaud you work in encouraging people to perform their civic duties.

    Take care!

As per the elections...well i have some interest vested in the results and all (for a diff state though), my heart has been beating for weeks now....but i pray all goes well. Friends i have spoken to all seem to think Agbaje is the man for the job, I personally want Obanikoro to win (for reasons best known to me...lol). Lets see how things play out. Have a Fab weekend!.

    the results in Imo state where canceled.

    would be interesting to know how the election went in term of being "free and fair".

    I have a lot of reports from NGOs who where monitoring it that are very disturbing
