MY COOKING SKILLS

OR LACK THERE OF

As you can see the pictures speak for themselves. I tried to make some gourmet marinated veggies with grilled chicken and oven roasted garlic bread. But it didn't seem to have worked out to what I had pictured. I think my baked fish delicacy of the other day was a fluke. Disaster aside, I was not going to let all that effort go to the trash, especially after remembering the children of Africa who have no food to eat. So in thanking God and praying for the hungry children, I ate my food like that and did not waste it. Need I say that it tasted very delicious to me, in that way that only the preparer can appreciate if you feel my drift. I have now resigned to being a goat and eating raw lettuce, tomatos and Carl's Jnrs chicken sanwich and the likes for a few more days. But I will continue attempting because practice makes perfect.

Does it look that bad? It actually looks appealing to me o and it was delicious when I was eating.

Ok I can explain the rat-like manner in whihc I ate the garlic bread. I mean think of it as you would a tuber of roasted yam. You know how the outside of the yam is all burnt and you eat the inside...ehen.. that's basically what I did with this. I basically had roasted bread.

I know it looks very lousy to burn bread in a toaster but I SWEAR I set it at medium only to later hear the smoke detector go off, which is pretty much everytime I try to bake or fry something. I am one of those who get distracted. NOt like ya'll don't already know this.

Practice, practice, practice and you will get better. At least I did. Also, use cook books. Patti Labelle has a very nice cook book.

@BmoreBeauty.... yes practice does make the difference. I'll keep trying.

@Raski...I have seen the pictures o. Blazing.

@Oyin.... omo those were the better days when I knew how to cook and was cooking food that 'other' people will eat. These day's it's just me and I guess i just don't put in the effort. But most of the food you found in our house back then was Inomama and Dez..lol

@JTOL....LOL.. Yes they really are that bad. As in started speaking in igbo when the alarm came on and I saw my bread. I am not sure you really wanna try the veggie dish...as i said it tastes good only to the 'cooker'

@lanre... tell me about it. I need more than just help... i need intervention. I ate it by using my fork to reach in to the soft un burnt insides of the bread. Just as you would when eating roasted yam with palm oil. LOL

YOU BERRA BELIEVE IT WAS INNOMAMA'S AND DES'S!! Addy's work was just to try and poison us one by one, taking pictures of her "concoctions"...if my other computer didn't crash, I'd have posted you her "shrimp and grits" attempt gone wrong! lol...I miss being around you when you cook, Adaure!

I tried to load the 'Shrimp and Grits' pix along but it is too large and I don't know how to shrink it. I'll figure it out soon

Ada,
Try this program called "irfanview" to shrink your pics, you can get the free version off of www.downloads.com
